Ms. McVay is a lifelong resident of south Louisiana, having grown up in Iberville Parish. She graduated from LSU with a degree in accounting in 2001. She attended LSU Law School and graduated in 2004, then went on to earn an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida School of Law in 2005.

After practicing in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas, she moved to Lafayette in 2007 and has called the Acadiana area home ever since. In 2017, Ms. McVay decided to put a twist on her love of learning and pursued a second career in teaching. She earned a Louisiana teacher certification and has since taught several subjects at the elementary, middle, and high school level. While teaching, Ms. McVay has continued to practice law on a part-time basis.

In her free time, Ms. McVay loves to travel, craft, and cheer on her daughter at gymnastics meets.
